Hope Talk – Bible Study: Coronavirus and Faith

In our first session we will be viewing and discussing a recent live e-panel discussion: “Coronavirus at the Crossroads of Faith and Science.” Moderated by GBHEM General Secretary Rev. Greg Bergquist, the panel will feature Dr. James E.K. Hildreth and Professor Randy L. Maddox.

Dr. James E.K. Hildreth
Hildreth is the president of Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN and is one the United States’ foremost experts on infectious diseases. He holds a Ph.D. in immunology from Oxford University and an M.D. from Johns Hopkins University. Hildreth is an internationally recognized leader in HIV and AIDS research and has been spearheading efforts to combat COVID-19 in Tennessee and beyond.

Professor Randy L. Maddox
Maddox is the William Kellon Quick Professor of Wesleyan and Methodist Studies at Duke Divinity School and a globally renowned theologian and Wesleyan scholar. He is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church and author of numerous articles and books including, “Responsible Grace: John Wesley’s Practical Theology.”

In the e-panel discussion, Hildreth and Maddox will share their expertise on the biology and theology of the coronavirus pandemic.
